Geraldton Motocross track Sunday August 12th.

by John Riemer

Midwest Motocross fans were treated to some of the best racing they could have wanted when the Geraldton Junior & Senior Motocross Club attacked the Geraldton Motocross track Sunday August 12th.

This year being the first to see a Pee Wee class run is giving us a look at some up and coming MX stars of the Midwest. The Pee Wee riders have come a long way since the start of the season now completing their non-competitive ride with blinding speed.

Sun City Motor Cycles rider Jake Fewster again led Jack Perkusich and Jed Polomka each race in the 65 class. Jake then continued his brilliant riding, holding off strong fights from Shey Ferguson and Ethan Evans in the 85 class.

A first lap tangle with Matt Phelps and Hayden Vermeer in the final 250 race gave Matt Boyd the race win he has been chasing all season, but 2 race wins and a third place gave Dongara Motorcycles Hayden Vermeer the round Win.

Leigh Borwick again rode his way to the chequered flag in each 125 race taking the round win from Ashley Cole who finished second in front of Leigh’s brother Jarred in third place.

Matt Sellers returned from injury this round to re-stamp his position on the C grade podium taking several race wins.

The B grade competition saw three different race winners with Sun City Motor Cycles, Brett Muller gaining enough points to secure the round win and keep him well ahead in the B grade points chase.

North Town Yamaha Rider Jarred Blakeney lost all hope of a round win with a small stumble causing bike damage in the second A grade race, leaving Sun City Motor Cycles, Neville Blakeney to again show the excited crowd how he has improved over the season with three race wins from Brendon McConkey and Luke Lawrence. Luke showed the onlookers his talent by keeping up with 450 machines on his smaller capacity 250 KTM.

Once again Justin Sotiroff, riding for North Town Yamaha rode with great speed to win the Veterans class this round.

If you’re craving more action packed MX racing follow the Geraldton Junior & Senior Motocross Club down to Whyatt Farm Dongara on Sunday August 26 for the next round of the MX season.
