Race Report - round
10
Whyatt Farm, Dongara 26th August 2007 by John Riemer Members of the Geraldton Junior & Senior Motocross Club couldn’t have wished for a better prepared track at Whyatt Farm on Sunday August 26th where we held Round 10 for the club championships. A few showers during the day didn’t dampen the spirits of all the competitors who were grateful to ride with a dust free track. The season is slowly coming to an end with only 2 rounds to ride, all racers put in a huge effort to gain valuable club points. The 10 minute plus one lap, pro open-pro lite race really put the senior riders through their paces, with excellent riding by all competitors making it one of the crowd favourites to watch. Neville Blakeney again came out on top in the open class and Luke Lawrence winning the lite class. The C grade competition has had its share of different round winners all year as the riders all gain more skill and confidence as the season goes on. This round Adam Hunt from Green Head took honours riding his 450KTM well in the deep Dongara sand. In B grade racing, two firsts and a second gave Dongara Motorcycles rider Brodie Weinman the round win. Brodie has had fine form this season but will struggle to get the points needed for a season win with missing rounds due to work commitments. Geraldton’s resident junior coach Neville Blakeney, again gave all the A grade racers a riding lesson by convincingly winning all 3 A grade racers yet again. A small field of Veteran riders gave high points scores to Jim Henderson, James Davis and Steve Vorse this round, but a heavy fall put Robert McDiarmit out of the rounds points chase. The junior races just get faster each round with Sun City Motorcycles Jake Fewster showing he deserves his number 3 state ranked 65 rider with easy wins in the 65 and 85 divisions. Dongara Motor Cycles, Hayden Vermeer again rode well with 3 wins in the junior 250 class with Jarred Borwick blitzing the junior 125 field again. Pee Wee riders Lochie Gimenez, Jai Gimenez, Cody Forster and Seth Patience made short work of their PW track, riding the KTM mini bikes around with ever growing skill. Listen to the full radio report on 98fm’s Saturday morning sports magazine show. The second last MX round will be held at Jurien Bay September 9. Racing
from 10.00am.
